Community Involvement: Work Here, Live Here, Give Here

USiConnects

Community involvement has been an important element of USi's culture since our founding and is a key reason why our employees are proud to say they work at USi.  In December of 1999 we founded an employee-managed charitable foundation.  USiConnects, a 501(c)(3) organization, provides a forum for collecting and distributing funds to selected causes and for volunteering our time and talent.

Mission

USiConnects supports local communities where we live and work by providing economic, technical, and volunteer resources to not-for-profit organizations, government agencies, and neighbors in need.

Goal

Special consideration is given to charitable activities in which USi employees are involved and provide leadership. Grants are made for specific programs and projects that make good use of existing resources, serve the community at large, and have a significant positive impact on the groups served.

Where We Give

USiConnects supports efforts in the communities closest to USi employees. In fact, 82 percent of the funds allocated in 2006 were directed at the request of USi's employees. Recent grantees include:

  • Read Across America (Maryland)
  • American Heart Association Walk (Ohio)
  • Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (North Carolina)
  • Revlon Walk/Run (California)
  • MBNA Foundation Walk for Education (North Carolina)
  • Avon Walk for Breast Cancer (Maryland and Massachusetts)
  • Annapolis Police Youth Fishing Camp (Maryland)
  • Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Walk to Cure Diabetes (Maryland)
  • Tsunami Relief Fund (2004)
