IDG's Computerworld Names USi to Annual List of Best Places to Work in Information Technology
Company ranks 38th overall; 7th of Best Small Companies
ANNAPOLIS, MD (June 19, 2007) – USinternetworking, an AT&T Company, announced today that IDG's Computerworld has selected it as one of the top workplaces for information technology (IT) professionals. This honor is part of the weekly IT publication's 14th Annual Best Places to Work in IT Survey, which was published in the June 18 issue of Computerworld and online at Computerworld.com. USi makes its debut on the list at number 38. USi ranked number 7 on the Best Small Companies list, fewer than 2,500 U.S. employees and a subset of the Top 100. This is USi's first year participating in the process.
"This is a fantastic recognition which wouldn't be possible without our employees' determination, customer focus, and commitment to USi's Core Values," remarked Andy Stern, Chief Executive Officer of USi. 'We've created an environment that fosters innovation, empowers employees to make decisions, and rewards employee accomplishments. It's rewarding to see an industry leader like Computerworld recognize what the entire team has built."
USi's corporate culture reflects its dedication to innovation. In fact, employees are encouraged to and rewarded for impacting the way the company delivers technology to its Fortune 1000 client base. USi's client-facing experts build on each other's passion for technology and competencies. The company prioritizes continued innovation from its employees. Through its comprehensive, annual appraisal process managers and employees work together to define career paths and steps for development. USi also fosters peer recognition through an employee recognition program that allows employees to recognize the accomplishments of their colleagues. Computerworld's ranking acknowledged that more than 40% of USi's U.S.-based employees have five or more years of service. The ranking also called attention to USi's appraisal process and recognition program.
'This year's Best Places to Work rankings represent companies that recognize that a strong commitment to and investment in employees is synonymous with creating a great IT work environment," said Don Tennant, Editor-in-Chief of Computerworld. "Once again, we found that IT professionals are looking for rewarding and challenging projects, access to leading-edge technologies, career growth and development, and a comfortable work/life balance. Our Best Places companies not only offer these benefits, but do so in a manner that goes well above industry norms."
Since 1994, Computerworld's annual "Best Places to Work in IT" feature has ranked the top 100 work environments for technology professionals, based on a comprehensive questionnaire regarding company offerings in categories such as benefits, diversity, career development, training, and retention. More than 27,000 IT employees responded to the employee survey from the final 100 companies selected. Approximately one-half of the total scoring system was based on employees' responses. The remainder was based upon the survey of the company's benefits and other programs.
