USi Named Innovator of the Year by Oracle Applications Users Group
Company Streamlines Compliance with Oracle® SOA Suite and Oracle Identity Management
ANNAPOLIS, MD (May 10, 2007) – USi (www.USi.com), an AT&T company and a leading Application Service Provider (ASP), today announced it has been named 2007 Innovator of the Year by the Oracle Applications Users Group (OAUG) for creating a Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) to integrate several applications and automate application provisioning throughout its enterprise with Oracle® Fusion Middleware.
"When we set out to automate provisioning processes to meet complex regulatory and data security requirements, we realized quickly that there was business value in it for our clients as well as ourselves," said Michael Rulf, USi's Vice President, Advanced Engineering and a key team leader on the project. "In addition to creating necessary documentation for audits, our new process decreases the time it takes to provision a new client. Now, we manage exceptions to the process, instead of the process itself, which saves us time and resources."
OAUG gives the Innovator of the Year to those who demonstrate creativity, leadership and success in deployment and real-world use of their Oracle Applications. In addition, the award recognizes originality as well as a solution that's potentially reusable within other organizations.
Facing increased government regulation, requiring greater auditing of management functions and significant financial and human capital resources, USi set out to streamline internal compliance requirements and more rapidly deliver service to new clients. Additionally, since the company's clients also face many of these same regulatory challenges, USi felt it could create an offering that clients could use to help meet their compliance requirements. USi is a Certified Advantage Partner in Oracle PartnerNetwork.
In 2006, USi officially embarked on its mission to create an SOA that would streamline its software infrastructure to support greater reuse and bolster its workflow capabilities. Less than one year later, USi is experiencing a number of benefits from its SOA. These benefits include the ability to reuse software components, automated provisioning, single sign-on and enhanced auditing capabilities for regulatory compliance.
"USi's use of Oracle Fusion Middleware serves as an example of how companies can easily plug Oracle's SOA software into their Oracle and non-Oracle IT systems," said Rick Schultz, vice president, Oracle Fusion Middleware at Oracle. "Through their use of Oracle SOA Suite and Oracle Identity Management, USi can more easily meet complex compliance requirements and the rigorous demands of its auditors, as well as help clients satisfy their own regulatory mandates."
