USi Speaks from SOA Experience at Oracle OpenWorld, Company Also to Exhibit
Experience Managing and Hosting Oracle Solutions Helps Clients Gain Greater Value from ERP Investments
ANNAPOLIS, MD (November 12, 2007) – USi (www.USi.com), an AT&T company and a leading Application Service Provider (ASP), today announced that it will present real-world examples of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) implementations at Oracle OpenWorld later this month. These real-world examples show how SOA has helped USi and its clients align IT with business processes and drive greater value and efficiency from IT investments.
"USi's experience hosting and managing more than 600 instances of Oracle and PeopleSoft Enterprise applications means that we have many lessons-learned we can share with the broader Oracle community," said USi's Jeff Esposito, general manager, enterprise applications. "Oracle OpenWorld provides us an opportunity to share this knowledge, helping organizations see greater return on investment from their enterprise applications."
USi Vice President, Advanced Engineering, Mike Rulf will address Oracle OpenWorld attendees on several SOA-related topics during the conference. His Tuesday, November 13 session focuses on SOA-based integration and provides a live demonstration of how one company streamlined the employee on-boarding process using PeopleSoft and Oracle® Fusion Middleware.
On Thursday November 15, Rulf presents on two topics. First, he explores the promise of Business Process Management, with a panel of Oracle users discussing the challenges and successes they faced when using Oracle's Business Process Management (BPM). Later in the day, Rulf tackles enterprise security and user provisioning.
"As we've implemented SOA across enterprise applications, we've been able to apply what we've learned to the application implementations of our over 150 enterprise clients, who face the same challenges with user provisioning and audit trails as we do," said Rulf. "USi's use of Oracle Fusion Middleware helped us lower costs and increase client satisfaction; it's a win-win for us."
USi recently renewed its status as a Certified Advantage Partner within the Oracle PartnerNetwork. As a Certified Advantage Partner, USi has a strong history of implementation and support of hosted Oracle products. With over 600 hosted and managed instances of enterprise applications in the Oracle family of applications, USi's vast experience allowed the company to develop a strong methodology for implementation and management of complex ERP systems. In addition to USi's comprehensive support model, the company provides its clients custom monitoring, which guarantees availability and performance.
"Enterprises are consistently seeking ways to increase efficiencies and automate processes that manage the needs of their business. That's why they turn to Oracle software and USi's expertise in managing those products," said Oracle Senior Vice President North America Alliances and Channels, Rauline Ochs. "We encourage Oracle OpenWorld attendees to take advantage of the expertise available to them from around the world at this year's conference."

Fusion-Ready: Delivering Enterprise Security and User Provisioning Thursday 11/15 1:00 PM, 104 Moscone South
Like most organizations, USi utilizes a wide range of packaged software and internally developed systems to support our corporate business practices. In order to meet regulatory and audit requirements, a robust identity management solution was required. The first half of the session will discuss some of the design issues and pitfalls encountered as we created our role based security model (RBAC), centralized our user management, and deployed the security model. The second half of the session will focus on how to provision users to multiple systems as well as manage a complex approval model using Oracle BPEL and SOA. Real-world experience using PeopleSoft, Oracle E-Business Suite, as well as 3rd party products and custom-developed software will be used as examples to illustrate the provisioning process.
Fusion-Ready: SOA-Based Integration Tuesday 11/13 3:15 PM, Marriott, Golden Gate C2
Most of the tasks associated with onboarding a new employee occur outside a HRMS system. This presentation will provide a live demonstration of how one company streamlined the process using PeopleSoft and Fusion Middleware. Starting with creating an employee in PeopleSoft, we will show how to automate provisioning of an email account, create interactive tasks and record confirmation of execution for audit purposes, and provision a user in E-Business Suite then generate a PO requisition for a laptop.
The Promise of BPM: Customer Experiences in Adopting Oracle BPM Thursday 11/15 8:30 AM, 300 Moscone South
The promise of business process management is an agile enterprise that can adapt itself to constantly changing business environments, redefined business objectives, or newly imposed regulations- leading to new opportunities, innovation, and increased revenue generation. In this session, customers share their experiences with the challenges they faced rolling out projects and how Oracle's BPM Solution contributed to their BPM success.
