CASE STUDY:
A multi-specialty physician group with 220 doctors had been with their incumbent carrier for more than two decades with a very favorable loss ratio. USI’s Healthcare team completed a comprehensive review of their 26 year loss history and determined that they were being overpriced, and that their structure of limits/coverage was severely outdated.
USI built pricing expectations using a detailed data analysis of their claims (with breakdowns for type of claim and resolution in addition to financial outcomes) and negotiated with underwriters—obtaining similar structure to their existing program with a savings of nearly $350,000. We also determined that a much more aligned retention funding mechanism could reduce their premium by almost $1,000,000 in one year with no additional upside risk and improved cash flow.
